The Churchill Museum
Phil Reed, Director of the new Churchill Museum, gives a personal insight into the development of the new museum housed in the Cabinet War Rooms, which opens to the public this month.
The Churchill Museum is the first major museum in the world to be solely devoted to the life and legacy of Sir Winston Churchill. It is the fruition of a project costing a total of £14million, that has extended and opened to the public more of the Cabinet War Rooms that lie beneath the Treasury building on Whitehall, turning over 9,000 sq feet into a dedicated museum. The museum examines Churchill’s life in five sections: Young Churchill (1874-1900), Politician to Statesman (1900-29), Wilderness Years (1929-39), War Leader (1940-45), Cold War Statesman (1945-65).
