A history-related Master of Arts (MA, or MPhil in Scotland) is a postgraduate degree which allows students to broaden and deepen the knowledge they acquired at undergraduate level. The generic MA in History covers research skills and recent developments in historiography and therefore attracts non-history graduates. However, an increasing number of MA courses are interdisciplinary in nature, giving students from different disciplines the freedom to pursue their own unique line of enquiry with subjects with which they may already be familiar, including foreign languages, archaeology or computing.
