Frequently Asked Questions

I am already a History Today subscriber. How do I log in?

To use the app you will need your Subscription ID which can be found in your welcome email.

You can also request your Subscriber ID by emailing subscriptions@historytoday.com

To log in:

  1. Tap ’Settings’ in the bottom right corner
  2. Tap ’Sign In’
  3. Paste in your Subscription ID

We always recommend you copy and paste your Subscription ID into the app because they can be fiddly, and it is easy to make a mistake if you freetype them.

Does my app subscription include the digital archive?

If you subscribed via the Apple App Store or Google Play, your subscription does not include access to the digital archive. If you would like to subscribe, you can do so here.

How do I cancel an app subscription?

If you subscribed via the Apple App Store or Google Play, you will need to cancel your subscription through your app store account. We do not manage these subscriptions directly and cannot cancel them on your behalf.

You can find Apple instructions here and Android subscriptions here.

Can I access my app subscription on a different device?

Yes. You can use your subscription on multiple devices, as long as you sign in using the same account details. If you subscribed via Apple or Google, make sure you are logged in with the same app store account used to make the purchase.

What should I do if my app subscription is no longer allowing me access?

If your subscription is not being recognised, first check that it is still active in your Apple App Store or Google Play account. You can then try restoring your purchase within the app by selecting ‘Restore purchases’ in the settings or account section. Make sure you are signed in with the same account used to make the original purchase.

If you use a Kindle device released in 2012 or earlier, you may be affected by Amazon's withdrawal of support for older devices. This means you may no longer be able to purchase new issues or Kindle subscriptions. If you're affected, we recommend accessing History Today through our website, or using a newer Kindle device that continues to support these services.

If you are a print or digital subscriber with History Today and your Subscription ID is no longer allowing you access, please contact digital@historytoday.com
