Three hundred years ago, in 1685, the King of France, Louis XIV revoked the Edict of Nantes, thereby denying French Protestants – the Huguenots – any role in his kingdom. The Revocation and the accompanying persecution forced the Protestants to flee. Between 40,000 and 50,000 refugees settled in England.
