Swanscombe

Lower Paleolithic site in southeast Britain. It has stratified 'Clactonian' chopper-tool and Acheulian hand-ax industries, and the fossil remains (c.400,000 ya) of archaic Homo sapiens whose cranial features are intermediate between those of Homo erectus and Homo sapiens neanderthalensis.
