Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC)
Cartel founded in 1960 to standardize oil prices among its members: Algeria, Gabon, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Venzuela and the United Arab Emirates. Membership has since changed, partly because of the formation in 1968 of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries.
