Nabopolassar

King of Babylon (r.626-605 BC) and the king of the Chaldean 11th dynasty, who reasserted Babylonian independence. He drove the Assyrians out of Babylonia before attacking Assyria, destroying the capital at Nineveh in 612 BC and taking over Assyrian domains.
