Nabatea

Ancient kingdom of the Middle East, now in Jordan. With its capital at Petra, the kingdom was established in the late 4th century BC, and by 85 BC controlled the northern Red Sea coast, Damascus and Lebanon. Following the conquests of Pompey in the Levant in 63 BC, Nabatea became an ally of the Romans; the kingdom was annexed by Trajan in AD 106, becoming the Roman province of Arabia.
