Lutheranism

The first Protestant denomination of Christianity, founded by Martin Luther. He preached that only through faith in Christ could salvation be found, not through any individual act. This removed the role of the priesthood. With its vernacular liturgy, Lutheranism spread through Germany and Scandinavia.
