Lucy (Australopithecus afarensis)

The most complete fossil remains (about 40 percent) of an individual Australopithecus afarensis hominid, about 3.5 million years old, found at Hadar in Ethiopia. Nicknamed “Lucy” by the excavators, the female australopithecine was bipedal and stood only about 1.2 meters (4 feet) tall.
