A glossary of historical terms
Kizzuwatna
Kingdom in Cilicia, south Anatolia, mentioned in Hittite texts in the 2nd millennium BC. Although powerful in the 15th century BC, its status depended on Hittite imperial fortunes, as Kizzuwatna was usually a vassal state. After the collapse of the Hittites in about 1200 BC, the region fragmented into several different Neo-Hittite kingdoms.
