Gascony

Coastal region of southwestern France from Bordeaux to the Pyrenees. It was the only part of Aquitaine not conquered by France in the thirteenth century. At the end of the Hundred Years War the French victory at Castillon (1453) brought it under French control. It was fully incorporated into France in 1607.
