Eshnunna
City on the Diyali river in central Mesopotamia and an important city-state of the Early Dynastic period. It was conquered by the Akkadians (c.2250 BC) and later ruled by the Third Dynasty of Ur before regaining its independence in about 2000 BC. It was the last major Mesopotamian state to be conquered by Hammurabi of Babylon (1755 BC).
