Chalukyas

Hindu dynasty that dominated central India in the 7th century. Founded by Jayasimha in about 500, the Chalukya kingdom reached its greatest extent under Pulakeshin II (r.610-43). He defeated Harsha in 633, halting his plans to conquer the Deccan. The Chalukyas were overthrown by the Rashtrakuta dynasty in 756.
