Canaanite alphabet

The first known phonetic alphabet, which was widely adapted in the Levant and Middle East from the late 2nd millennium BC. The Phoenician version of this alphabet was the basis for the Old Hebrew, Greek and Latin (via Etruscan) alphabets.
