Bose, Subhas Chandra

(1897-1945) Indian nationalist. He opposed India's status as a dominion of the British empire and, with Jawaharlal Nehru, formed the Independence League in 1928. He supported the Axis powers in World War II, went to Nazi Germany and formed the Indian National Army. He assisted the Japanese invasion of Burma.
