Atrebates

A Gaulish people (probably of continental origin) encountered by the Romans in Britain in the area between west Sussex and the rivers Thames and Test. They made treaties with Rome, and three civitates ('communities') were created: the Atrebates (capital at Silchester), the Belgae (capital at Winchester) and the Regni (capital at Chichester).
