Last ruler of the Inca empire, Atahuallpa (r.1525-33) spent most of his reign in a civil war with his brother Huascar. Shortly after his victory in 1532, Atahuallpa was captured by the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro; he was executed the following year.
