Asia (Roman province)
Originally the kingdom of Pergamon, made the Provincia Asia in 133 BC, and enlarged under the empire, it occupied much of modern west-central Turkey. A fertile region with abundant natural resources, it was known for manufactured goods, such as woollen fabrics. It was invaded by Goths in the AD 250s and 260s.
