Asante wars

Five wars (1824, 1826, 1863, 1874, 1900) between Britain and the Asante empire. British determination to end the Asante slave trade began the wars. The issue in later wars was Asante refusal to accept British protection. Asante warriors won two victories in 1863. A protectorate by 1901, Asante was annexed to the Gold Coast Colony in 1902.
