Ardashir

Two kings of Sasanian Persia. Ardashir I (r.c.AD 220- 40) was the grandson of Sasan, founder of the dynasty, who overthrew the Parthian dynasty in 224-26. Ardashir II (r.379-383) succeeded Shapur II. A weak king, he was soon deposed.
