Antonine Wall

Built for Antoninus Pius in AD 139-42 by Q. Lollius Urbicus, a frontier wall that ran 59 kilometers (37 miles) across modern Scotland, from the Forth to the river Clyde. It had 17 forts as well as signaling platforms and fortlets. Excavation has revealed two main phases of occupation, between about 139 and 164.
