Anatolia

A peninsula between the eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea, also known as Asia Minor. At the crossroads of Europe and Asia, it was the perpetual target of invaders beginning with the Hittites in the 19th century BC, through Indo-Europeans, Phrygians, Cimmerians, Lydians, Persians, Macedonians, Ptolemies, Seleucids, Celts, Byzantines, Seljuks, Ottoman Turks and finally the British and Greeks. It is now part of Turkey.
