Anabaptists

Protestant sect, founded in 1525 at Zollikon, near Zurich by radical followers of Ulrich Zwingli who disliked his subservience to civil authority. They preached adult baptism, often challenged the authority of the state, and were persecuted as revolutionary. They attempted to establish a theocracy in Munster in 1534.
