Amritsar massacre

(13 April 1919) Massacre of protesters in Amritsar in northern India. British troops commanded fired on 10,000 demonstrators protesting against the arrest of Indian political leaders. The number of casualties remains in dispute, but it is thought that 379 were killed and over 1000 wounded.
