Amorites

Semitic people of Arabia, originally nomadic, who are mentioned in Mesopotamian records from about 2400 to 2000 BC. Their invasions contributed to the collapse of the Akkadian empire (c.2193 BC) and later the Third Dynasty of Ur (c.2000 BC). In the early 2nd millennium BC, Amorite kings established dynasties in many Babylonian and Assyrian cities, assimilating Sumero-Akkadian culture. Amorites also settled in parts of Palestine and were sometimes associated with the Canaanites.
