Amin, Idi

(1926- ) Ugandan politician. As president (1971-79), he exiled British Asians and massacred political opponents. Appalled by this barbarity, Tanzania's president Julius Nyerere invaded Uganda in 1979. Amin fled to Libya and thereafter to Saudi Arabia and Zaire.
