Agincourt, Battle of

A major battle of the Hundred Years War, fought in northeastern France (25 October 1415) between an English army of about 6,000 men under Henry V and a much larger French force. The English used dismounted men-at-arms and large numbers of bowmen. They secured a crushing defeat of the French, paving the way for Henry's conquest of Normandy.
