Afanasevo culture

Neolithic culture of southern Siberia from about 2300 to 1500 BC, in the steppe/taiga region to the north of the Altai mountains, along the upper reaches of the Yenisey and Ob rivers. It had a mixed hunting, farming and herding economy (domestic sheep, cattle and horses), a round barrow funerary tradition, and decorated pottery and copper metallurgy. Similar cultures occupied the steppes further to the west, from the Altai to southern Russia.
