Aetius

(c.AD 390-454) One of the last effective generals of the Roman empire, who defeated Attila and the Huns at the Battle of the Catalaunian Plains in AD451. Despite this, the empire continued to crumble, and Aetius was assassinated by Valentinian III in 454.
