Aeschylos

Athenian playwright (c.525-456 BC) seen as the founder of Greek tragedy. He was the first to use individual characters rather than a chorus to tell a story. His famous trilogy, the Oresteia, dealt with the problems of justice and revenge. Few of his plays survive.
