This year there were 109 entries, and the standard was exceptionally high. The Prize has been awarded to Hannah Boston of Loughborough High School, for her enterprising essay on a hitherto unnoticed charter of Ranulf, earl of Chester. A Lower Sixth award was made to Tom Seaward of Hills Road Sixth Form College, Cambridge, for an essay on whether Henry VIII was an absolute monarch.
