The above image shows how a new visitor centre to showcase the Battle of Bannockburn will look.
A joint venture between the National Trust for Scotland and Historic Scotland, the new Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre is aimed at enhancing the presentation of the battle which took place on 23-24 June 1314, when the army of Robert the Bruce defeated King Edward II's English forces and lay the foundations for Scottish independence.
Speaking of the proposal, National Trust for Scotland Chief Executive Kate Mavor described it as a "once in a generation opportunity to look at how we present and interpret one of the most defining moments in our history".
